Due to Covid 19 luncheon events in 2020 and 2021 were canceled. Members will be notified of member events for 2022 by email and letter.

Past events:

March 19, 2024 Luncheon Meeting:

The day started with members arriving at 10:30 to socialize and rekindle friendships.  New members were warmly greeted and welcomed by all. 

At 11.00 am, the meeting started with a meaningful invocation by Charla Edward.

Betsey Attel reviewed the agenda for the program, followed by an update of happenings at Parkland by Dr DeLancey Johnson, Senior VP and Associate Chief Talent Officer.

  • Parkland was named one of the Winners of 2023 Best place for working parents -Dallas Innovator Awards.  
    • Parkland has best in class partnership with Annie's place, which offers drop-in child-care services for patients and certain employees of Parkland. Annie's place plans to expand full child care services to additional Parkland employees . Parkland also provides outstanding support for family members and addresses holistic needs of the staff.
  • Parkland's AI/ML Model for pediatric asthma care has received the prestigious award/grant from Kaiser Permanente to advance Augmented intelligence in medicine and healthcare. ($150,000)
  • Eleven RN's awarded DFW Great 100 nurses
  • Eight nurses awarded D Magazine's - Excellence in Nursing Award
  • Five Nominees for DFWHC employee of the year.
  • Dr Kavita Bhavan MD, Infectious disease specialist, has received the Press Ganey Human Experience Award.
  • $5 million grant for the mobile women's health unit focusing on breast cancer, mammogram etc., by Crystal Charity Ball.
  • $1.8 million Psychiatric intake expansion is a dire need
  • Free tax prep offered for eligible employees and retirees - 214 590 8040
  • Passive Weapon Security System $1.4 million worth has been installed - first one in the metroplex
  • Old campus demolition update - no final decision as to how the site will be developed

Next was a talk by Chaplain Audah Danielle George 
Topic: Helping tools, Enhancing your life through Transition.
The Chaplain delved into techniques on how to deal with stresses in life using breathing exercises, calming practices and self-trust.

The Secretary's and Treasurer's reports were presented and then approved by the members.

Irena King presented a brief update from the Auxiliary.  There are on-going diverse volunteer opportunities that all PROs members are welcome to participate in.  Auxiliary meetings are quarterly in the main dining room.  Please notify Irena King at This email address is being protected from spambots. The group moved to the dining area for the luncheon where the following raffle items were awarded:  ten $15 gift cards, a $50 gift card and 2 gift bags with Parkland logo goodies.  There was also a 'special' raffle where members who brought a new member were entered for a drawing for $50 cash.

The PROs are deeply grateful to the Auxiliary for sponsoring the 2 semi-annual lunches for our meetings.
